Teaching Norman Mailer in the Cloud
This author discusses the “legacy power” of Norman Mailer, the challenge of carrying this legacy to the college classroom, and how he radically changed his pedagogy to teach “Norman Mailer’s ‘America’” to college undergraduates. Social media has had an important and drastic affect on communication online and face-to-face and social media may be used as an effective addition to the Humanities classroom in its use to revive undergraduate interest in old print culture, like that of “Norman Mailer’s ‘America.’”

WooThemes’ Sensei: A Review
I’ve been a fan of WooThemes for a while now. I generally like their designs for Wordpress: they are functional and most have a minimal aesthetic that I find pleasing and functional. They recently have begun developing plugins which seems to have taken their emphasis away from the themes, but when I saw Sensei announced, I knew I had to try it out. What follows is my short review after having used it to teach two courses this summer.

Blog
I have been blogging in one form or another for twenty years. I cover literature, technoculture, academics, theory, and writing. I use my blog for teaching, but mostly for developing ideas that will eventually become larger research projects. View some sample posts.
My blog was named one of the twenty best blogs in the Digital Humanities by Academic.org. Visit my blog; you might begin with “About this Blog.”

MCA Web Site
This might be the fifth iteration of the Media, Culture & the Arts department’s web site. It runs on our own Linux server. The runs on Wordpress, and now is hosted under our consolidated domain name. I act as Webmaster for the site.
For the last two semesters, my students from NMAC 3108, Writing for Digital Media, have been contributors to the site, posting news, announcements, and articles.
