AXOLOTL

The Axolotl is a discriptive story of a man who is facisnated with the existance of the Axolotl. In being so, he becomes obssessed and visits the Axolotl everyday to merely observe their activities. Also his existance eventually becomes a mere shell, when his inner being becomes hopelessly lost in the being of a Axolotl.

In this indepth story of the Axolotl, the man comes to observe their daily routine, referes to himself as an Axolotl in and out. Before the actual switch took place he placed himself in the aquariam. For instance; " I saw the diminutive toes poise midly on the moss. It's the we dont enjoy moving a lot, and the tank is so cramped- we barely move in any direction and we're hitting one of the others with our tail or our head......." He also believes that the Axolotl has great wisdom on life and mankind in reference to space and moblity. "Obscurely I seemed to uderstand their secret will, to abolish space and time with an indifferent immoblity." In every visit this man lost more of himself as a man, and became more of an Axolotl in his world. He began to think, move and feel like an Axolotl. Eventually he was inside the aquariam as an Axolotl and his body was on the out- side like a lost soul. " To realize that was, for the first moment , like the horror of a man buried alive awaking his fate, Oustside , my face came close to the glass again, I saw my mouth, the lips compressed with the effort of understanding the axolotl.
