The following is what the top of the first page of an essay should look like. . .
The text above represents the first page of an essay. This example illustrates how all formal essays should be formatted. Your surname followed by the page number is 1/2 inch from the top and one inch from the right. One inch from the top and left sides should have the following information: name, social security #, class and section, instructor's name, and date. Follow this information by another return and center the title.
