The following is what the top of the first page of an essay should look like. . .





The text above represents the first page of an essay. This example illustrates how all formal essays should be formatted. Your surname followed by the page number is 1/2 inch from the top and one inch from the right. One inch from the top and left sides should have the following information: name, social security #, class and section, instructor's name, and date. Follow this information by another return and center the title. The body of the text should then begin one line below the title with one-inch margins on all sides.
