LIT 3101.001 Literature of the Western World I

Professor Lucas is very organized and presents literature to his students in a very interesting and stimulating manner. However, there was too much reading assigned to get a very good feel of any one in particular. Though his classes were informative—I usually felt overwhelmed and exhausted.

Mr. Lucas knows his stuff, but his attitude needs to change. Sarcasm has no place in the classroom and had he been a little more considerate of us as students, we would have given him more respect. He does not like to have his opinions challenged although he invited us to share ours. He was condescending at times and it wasn’t appreciated.

Too much material. I felt it was rushed and skimmed. Teacher refused to answer a direct question. “Well, maybe.” “Possibly.” Teacher used a different version and book than students, causing confusion.

Instructor didn’t answer direct questions. “Well, maybe.” I did not learn almost anything. Too much material. Skimmed over most stuff. Instructor was using different versions and books than students, causing confusion and losing people.

The instructor knew the material like the back of his hand. I enjoyed listening to his lectures.

He is a good instructor and knows his subject very well.

I enjoyed the course; if a professor can make learning pleasurable then he/she is certainly effective.

Had to buy too many books that were used very little or not at all. Otherwise a great class!

I thoroughly enjoyed the class. Mr. Lucas made the subject interesting and relevant and if possible, I would take a class with him again.

He loves what he teaches and makes you enjoy it with his enthusiasm.

Well he is organized, specific, and knowledgeable. He is intriguing.

The instructor was delightfully prepared and organized, as well as being very knowledgeable about everything we covered. The format of the class was very interesting and there was a good pace to the class.

Prof. Lucas was very enthusiastic about the works we covered and encouraged class discussion and independent interpretation and thought. I will pursue classics such as we were introduced to this semester on my own.

There was a lot of material covered, and many ideas were expressed. Well organized. A little confused about the content and degree of analyzing wanted on journal entries.

Instructor = Good — Course work = too heavy — too much material for one course — need to summarize more. Overall good experience. Will recommend instructor to others.

I cannot make too many comments because a lot of this semester is jumbled up in my head. Prof. Lucas knew his material and was always willing to help.

Professor Lucas demonstrated knowledge of the subject areas. As a student that has studied the subject area previously, the professor conveyed his knowledge so that I have become more adept in the subject areas. He made the class fun and personable, applying the literature to life in contemporary society.

For the most part, the course was very comprehensive and I enjoyed class.

Professor Lucas was very organized. He seemed to thoroughly understand the material covered. I enjoyed the class because he made the subject matter accessible.
