Adopt-a-Mac Program

Founded by the owners of MacTampa, Adopt-a-Mac acknowledges the importance of computer technology in education. Our goal is simple: to allow lower-income households who have a student or students attending a Tampa Bay school or college to “adopt” donated Macintosh computers.

The program is simple. End-users donate their older Macintosh computers to Adopt-a-Mac. Then we clean up the Mac and install donated software, and deliver it to the adopting student.

Adopt-a-Mac is a non-profit organization that seeks to promote reliable, efficient, and current technology for those that cannot afford to purchase it on their own. This is the reason we choose the Macintosh platform: obsolesence is less of a factor with a Mac. Older Macs can run current software; bloated software from equally bloated manufacturers has a large impact on other platforms, but less on a Mac. Most Macs donated will run the most current software and remain reliable and productive throughout a student’s education.
