ABSURD!

Monotony, day after day going through the same motions, and why? Does it really matter? That is what the absurdist asks. The absurdist author focuses on the monotony and uselessness of existence. The protagonists live within their own world, not really connecting with others present in their lives. Their existence seems meaningless or even burdensome, yet the character continues.

Kafka asked these questions through his work, "A Hunger Artist." The hunger artist led a monotonous existence. His whole life was putting on a show for his audience, yet he never connected with them. He was dependent on the attention of his audience, however they would not have noticed if he had not been there. As his audience faded so did the hunger artist.
