ENC 1101: Issues in TechnologyAssignment 4 |
Web Page ReviewWe have been talking in depth in this class about the importance of subject, purpose, and audience in any writing. In this assignment, find a web page that catches your eyeit could be one you are already familiar with from a previous assignmentand look at it again applying our rules of writing. Is this page effective in communicating to an audience? What is the page's audience? What is its purpose? What is the subject? Write, in-class, a review of the page looking at all of the pages contentsincluding graphics, text, and layoutand how they communicate to the audience. In your estimation, is the page well-written? Why? What could be done differently to make the writing better? (250 words - one hour) MOO Review and DevelopmentGet a partner and go to a MOO other than LitMUSE (DaMOO, LambdaMOO, DU, etc. Janice can point you to one). Explore for a while and try to talk to some other characters in the MOO. Use some verbs and try to figure out what the MOOs theme is and what the life is like there. Basically, I would like you to get some ideas for your character on LitMUSE in order to help you develop your web page for assignment 6. Spend the rest of the class period working on this project; write a summary (100 words or so) talking about your trip to the other MOO and how it influenced the direction you are taking in building your site and MOO character. (I will try to join you on LitMUSE about 10:30 if you have any questions that Janice cannot answer.) Submit both parts of this assignment separately, clearly labeling each of them in the subject lines, to [email protected]. |
