 Msg #1 Richard Nylen:
 HEY!!!

 Msg #2 Richard Nylen:
Does anyone need any help with HTML?

 Msg #3 Scott Holland:
 Don't yell at me please.

 Msg #4 Richard Nylen:
 it's all good

 Msg #5 Kimberly Conner:
So how do you apply fonts and colors to your page?

 Msg #6 Scott Holland:
HTML. Is that a health plan organization?

 Msg #7 Kimberly Conner:
Yep, I need help with making my page look better.

 Msg #8 Richard Nylen:
fonts really depend on the internet browser, but colors are
 applied with the "color" command

 Msg #9 Matthew Gallagher:
There is a series of codes for the colors.

 Msg #10 Mathew Zachariah:
First, it was hard little hard for me to grasp the HTML, now it
 is pretty easy.

 Msg #11 Richard Nylen:
colors can be applied with the "color" command

 Msg #12 Shannon Royal:
yes, can you please help me out Richard?

 Msg #13 Gerald Lucas:
If anyone has any specific questions, ask them here, and I will
try to answer them via the listserv.

 Msg #14 Pierre Joseph:
i need help with word alignment or more so, title alignment

 Msg #15 Kimberly Conner:
Has anyone taken the HTML course in the computer lab?

 Msg #16 Scott Holland:
 Kimberly,
Do yo have a program that auto converts a document to HTML? Such
as WORD 97, or a host of other HTML creators?

 Msg #17 Markesha Ruth:
Matthew, since you understand the HTML, how about helping me?

 Msg #18 Matthew Gallagher:
If you go to the website www.bignosebird.com they have many
 different colors to choose from.

 Msg #19 Richard Nylen:
when you start your paragraph you can follow it with the
 command like color="black"

 Msg #20 Hayoung Kim:
Kim, if you want to add fonts or colors to your page or link:
"font=4" "/font" number is for size of letter sizing
"font color=pink" "/font" this is for color of text
this works for me but of course there are other options.

 Msg #21 Rosalba Singh:
Does anyone have any idea why certain links would work and others
 not?

 Msg #22 Kimberly Conner:
Scott, Yes, I have Windows 95.

 Msg #23 Richard Nylen:
 what happens to the link?

 Msg #24 Richard Nylen:
does it come up NOT FOUND? or does it not even go

 Msg #25 Shannon Royal:
I would really appreciate your help on learning more about HTML
 Richard.

 Msg #26 Rosalba Singh:
The links within my links to bring me back to my homepage are not
 found

 Msg #27 Sheena Salmon:
does anyone here use ETHERNET connection from the dorms?

 Msg #28 Elizabeth Menietti:
How do you send the journal entries and other information once
you get them on your home page?

 Msg #29 Stacey Smith:
I have no idea how to do color, add pictures, or make interesting
backgrounds. If anyone has any website addresses or handouts
like "how to" I would be most appreciative.

 Msg #30 Richard Nylen:
hmm- check exactly what your href command goes to... it may be
 off by a letter

 Msg #31 Richard Nylen:
 or a number

 Msg #32 Dan White:
To apply colors you have to do "body bgcolor=white" where that
will set the background color to white.

 Msg #33 Richard Nylen:
html is pretty easy.... simple commands can make the whole
 document look good....
"h1" you know is the big heading and "h6" is quite a small
 heading

 Msg #34 Richard Nylen:
 "hr" is a horizontal line

 Msg #35 Rachel Lamb:
 i like the gray

 Msg #36 Kimberly Conner:
Do all graphics have to be gif. files?

 Msg #37 Scott Holland:
Kimberly, I am speaking about a Word Procsseor that has as a
"save as" option "save as HTML." I have WORD 97, which has this
feature, however I am not sure if WORD 6.0 has it. There are a
bunch of WebPage programs that allow you to make a page an the
program converts it to HTML language. I am sure someone you know
 has one.

 Msg #38 Stacey Smith:
Anyone else with any clever and helpful ideas??? Thanks Dan.

 Msg #39 Markesha Ruth:
Elizabeth, I want to know the same thing, because I don't quite
understand how to post things to the homepage either.

 Msg #40 Dan White:
You get an ethernet connection in the dorms?

 Msg #41 Rosalba Singh:
I have been able to transfer my journal entries through FTP. If
you go to the library you can access this. If you have a computer
at home, you can also get instructions on downloading.

 Msg #42 Mathew Zachariah:
To add Background color, follow this HTMl tag: "body bgcolor="$$
$$$$" the $ mean that there is a special code for certain color.
For red it would be FF0000

 Msg #43 Hayoung Kim:
Kim, graphics can be .gif or .jpg files.

 Msg #44 Richard Nylen:
you really have to play quite a bit with the commands to get the
 full effect..

 Msg #45 Sheena Salmon:
 I get ethernet in gamma.

 Msg #46 Stacey Smith:
Where do you learn about things like background color or
 pictures?

 Msg #47 Richard Nylen:
graphics can be added too to make it look cool

 Msg #48 Shannon Royal:
If Richard is in the room can you please take a look at the guy
 in the white hat.

 Msg #49 Stacey Smith:
 Can you buy a book?

 Msg #50 Dan White:
That is great that there are ethernet connections in the dorms.
I am anxiously awaiting cable modems.

 Msg #51 Elizabeth Menietti:
Is anyone as lost about this computer stuff as I am?

 Msg #52 Richard Nylen:
yes, there are html books comercially available

 Msg #53 Richard Nylen:
 or check the library

 Msg #54 Pierre Joseph:
how do you put graphic on your page after you save it under mpeg

 Msg #55 Stacey Smith:
 For serious?

 Msg #56 Richard Nylen:
 no, for fake!

 Msg #57 Mathew Zachariah:
Well, I was looking at other people's webpage and I was trying to
 imitate some of their styles.

 Msg #58 Kimberly Conner:
There are a lot of books you can buy. Try the bookstore, or
 search the web.

 Msg #59 Richard Nylen:
there is a lot of help for HTML on the net

 Msg #60 Stacey Smith:
What would I look it up under, smart aleck?????

 Msg #61 Hayoung Kim:
Stacey, you can browse through the internet & search for graphics
and html. You will find a myriad of info on it.

 Msg #62 Rachel Lamb:
 i am very lost also

 Msg #63 Richard Nylen:
try going to a search engine and typing in HTML help and you will
be surprised what you will get back

 Msg #64 Matthew Gallagher:
The web is the best place to search for help.

 Msg #65 Scott Holland:
BACKGROUND ALERT: In the source code, the image file name cannot
have any capital letters or the UNIX system will ignore it. For
example: "Image5" would have to be changed to "image5." This is
 true for all graphics files.

 Msg #66 Gerald Lucas:
Did anyone find the article I passed out helpful? What about any
of the links on the class homepage?

 Msg #67 Stacey Smith:
 Hey Nylen, thanks.

 Msg #68 Rosalba Singh:
I also managed to get help through Corel Web.designer. This was
software that I got through the internet and it was FREE. The
only thing is after thirty days it will delete itself, but in the
 mean time it helps.

 Msg #69 Dan White:
The best place to find out about HTML is on the Internet. If you
want to find out how someone did a particular style or layout on
their page, you can look at their source. Every browser I know
gives you this ability. Just go up to view... document source
and you can see the equivalent code. Most of what I learned was
from seeing a page that I liked and looking at the source.

 Msg #70 Richard Nylen:
yes, microsoft front page is also good

 Msg #71 Mathew Zachariah:
Yes, Mr. Lucas, It was very helpful

 Msg #72 Sheena Salmon:
Has anyone used campus e-mail from home and uploading stufff to
their WEB page with the microsoft mialbox settings.

 Msg #73 Matthew Gallagher:
the sample student homepage was very helpfull.

 Msg #74 Shannon Royal:
Richard, can you meet me after class for about minute or two.

 Msg #75 Richard Nylen:
it is a WYSIWYG program, what you see is what you get... you make
it look just as you want it without typing in all the code

 Msg #76 Hayoung Kim:
Lucas, actually I have found more useful info on the web long
time ago which is very helpful. The info you handed was good too.

 Msg #77 Richard Nylen:
 sure

 Msg #78 Dan White:
Microsoft Front Page is what I am using now because it is so much
 faster to generate the pages...

 Msg #79 Gerald Lucas:
RE: #76: Could you forward me that information?

 Msg #80 Stacey Smith:
I thought the article was really hard to understand for thiose
who do not speak fluent computerese. The print also really stunk
so it was hard to read. The original article would probably be a
 lot easier to comprehend,yes????

 Msg #81 Richard Nylen:
but maybe the powers that be want you to learn the code instead
 of cheating with Front Page

 Msg #82 Scott Holland:
 Mr. Lucas,
I found the "How to Create An Electronic Web Page" helpful as it
has a complete listing of the basic and intermediate HTML tags.

 Msg #83 Mathew Zachariah:
I even went through Mr. Lucas's suggested HTML links and printed
out a whole bunch of HTML tag commands.

 Msg #84 Hayoung Kim:
Lucas, sure. I will e-mail the addresses to you.

 Msg #85 Kimberly Conner:
I have a manual on setting up web pages. It's quite long but
easy to follow. The handout was helpful also however.

 Msg #86 Scott Holland:
 Matthew,
 Congratulations!

 Msg #87 Stacey Smith:
I attempted the HTML handout and most of it worked (with help).
 Thanks Mr. Lucas!!
