AL_#11>>dagnabit
AL_#11>>where is my group?
AL_#11>>and whay are there so many of me?
AL_#11>>how do i get rid of the surplus me's?
AL_#11>>i guess there is nothing to do now, but wait
AL_#11>>ok, i've been waiting for 40 minutes now
AL_#11>>goin on an hour now.
AL_#11>>maybe i'll just talk to myself
AL_#11>>so AL, how did you like the essay
AL_#11>>well, AL, i thought it was right on target, i
understood what it meant when it said the novel was a textbook
example of how to write a sci-fi novel
AL_#11>>hmmmm, i think i see what you mean, AL, very
        insightful

AL_#11>>not really, i was just repeating what that
        ketterer guy said
AL_#11>>one of the things that i had a discrepancy with
was the fact the the ketterer thought it was a good thing that leguin
stayed with the format, but i think if you don't change up the rules
while you're writing, you run the risk of perpetuating he same ideas
over and over and becoming stgnant
AL_#11>>look at john grishham, all his books are the same
AL_#11>>hmmmm, now that's a good point AL.
AL_#11>>thatnk you thank you
AL_#11>>well what about those 3 main tools that make up
a sci fi novel, are they true?
AL_#11>>i think they are, and that ketterer was right on
target with the 3 themes of sci fi, but i think it's the author's
resposibility to add something to it, or change something, so that
the genre of sci fi is able to reinvent itself
AL_#11>>after a while, the same kinds of stories (with
        the same elments) become boring
AL_#11>>and ketterer didn't find too much of a problem
        with that, but i did
AL_#11>>but that was really the only thing i had a
        problem wiht
AL_#11>>well then, al, how'd you like the book?
AL_#11>>i thought it was good once i finally new what
was going on. i had to reread certiain parts of it
AL_#11>>what made it so hard to understand?
AL_#11>>i thikn it was the language
AL_#11>>and the different concept of time
AL_#11>>that confused me, and i found myself flipping to
the back of the book a lot for translations
AL_#11>>but otherwise, i liked it.
AL_#11>>i particularly liked estraven's plan to get
        genly out of the prison
AL_#11>>that was cool
AL_#11>>that whole part was neat.
AL_#11>>did you think there was al ot of sybolism in the
        novel?
AL_#11>>yeah actually i did. ketterer pointed out such
symbols as the box to indicate confinement and rigidity, and i also
        noted that in my reading
AL_#11>>well it sounds like you enjoyed the novel a lot
AL_#11>>well, i liked it ok, but what i really like are
the short stories, those are awesome!
AL_#11>>i could read those all day
AL_#11>>yeah me too, i liked that woody allen one, it
        was hilarious
AL_#11>>anyhoo, back to the novel
AL_#11>>ah yes indeed
AL_#11>>what was the purpose of the chapters of
        mythology in there?/
AL_#11>>i think that was to help the reader know where
the genthenians were coming from and let us in on a bit pf their
        cullture and way of thiking
AL_#11>>ah, indeed, i get it
AL_#11>>yeah, aren't i great?
AL_#11>>you're modest too
AL_#11>>shut up
AL_#11>>i'm gonna check if any of the other goup
memebers are waiting in another room
AL_#11>>hold on
AL_#11>>ok noone is anywhere to be found
AL_#11>>i am the only one driving along this information
        superhighway
AL_#11>>sigh
AL_#11>>let's see if posting a message works
AL_#11>>although i doubt it
AL_#11>>so anyway, are there any other questions
        regarding the novel?
AL_#11>>nope, i think i know what io'm thinking
AL_#11>>have you finished your paper/
AL_#11>>no, i haven't finished the part where i talk
about what my group thinks, but i'm begiining to think i'll just omit
that and talk about what I think
AL_#11>>since no one else seems to give a rat crap
AL_#11>>so that's what i'll do.
AL_#11>>wow AL, it sounds like you're getting
        frustrated.
AL_#11>>no really, ya think?
AL_#11>>wel,l you never know. it might not be your group
memebers' fault, maybe the computer they're using isn't working.
AL_#11>>well, that's a possibility, yes, but i gave them
my phone # and told them where i would be at every hour of the day,
so the know that they can call me and let me know what up.
AL_#11>>that's true, but don't youm have their phone
        #'s??
AL_#11>>no, they didn't give them to me, but that's my
bad cuz stupid me, i should've asked for them
AL_#11>>but i nevcer thoght in a million years that once
we agreed on a time and place TWICE, that i would be screwed over
        TWICE.
AL_#11>>now now now, you can'y blame your group
AL_#11>>i know, but i'm starting to get a bit pissed,
and there is no one else to blame
AL_#11>>blame it on the rain, like milli vanilli says
AL_#11>>yup, whenever something ain't right, just take a
tip from rob and fab, they'll know what to do
AL_#11>>ok, now i'm getting delirious, i'm advocating
milli vanilli. i think i'm done with my experiment in bipolar
personality exploration for today. i have to get to work. i'll be on
as soon as i get home from work, of course. maybe this time, my group
will be there. third time's the charm, right?
