Research the text online. Find at least three web sites that address Afternoon in a critical manner. Discuss these sites with your partner and come to some conclusions about the text and address one of the following topics:
- aporia -- endless circles or repeating lexias with seemingly no way out -- what does this do for your enjoyment of the text? for your understanding of the text?
- the act of reading -- begin with Bolters assertion that Afternoon is about the problem of its own reading.
- the difficulty with reading hypertext in general using Afternoon as a specific instance -- what is the significance of Bolters supposition that Afternoon becomes an allegory of the act of reading?
- closure -- begin with Landows assertion Joyce makes the responsibility for closure, for stopping, entirely the readers.
The product of this activity will be a two to five page essay that addresses the topic of your choice.
