ENC 2210, Basic Technical Writing, teaches students writing skills they will need as professionals. Since this section of technical writing will utilize computer and information technologies, a basic knowledge of computers is expected from all students prior to entering the class. Students will complete individual work and collaborative projects common to a technical writing environment, such as memos, proposals, progress reports, and letters; and technical description, process analysis, instruction, and definition. Emphasis will be given to purpose, audience, and style.

This section of ENC 2210 meets in the English Department's computer classroom, CPR-202. The object of this section is to familiarize the student with various new approaches to instruction and communication, emphasizing pragmatic and theoretical concerns in the process. The computers will assist the instructor, but in no way attempt to replace him; they are tools that will help with efficiency, variety, and practicality in the instruction and learning of Basic Technical Writing.

It should also be noted that this class is not a computer class, but a composition class; writing is still our primary concern. A certain degree of familiarity with computers and word processing is a mandatory prerequisite for this course; the computer instruction will be limited to the applications utilized by the class.
