1.2.2 Network Configuration

As with the server above, each workstation will have to have it’s own, unique IP to identify itself on the network. You should have received a list of IPs from your network administrator and have printed them out for easy reference during workstation installation. That way, once you use an IP address, you can put the workstation’s name next to it for easy reference, and you will know not to use that number again.

You also need to decide on hostnames for you workstations. I use numbers that correspond to bar codes on my computers. Use anything you want, but keep these names short, logical, and manageable. Once you have chosen the hostnames, write them down next to the IP address you will assign to each. More on this in a moment.
