On June 6, 1997, I graduated from Vivian Gaither
High School second in my class of 651 students.
That day, I stood before approximately 6,000
people and presented my
salutatorian speech. I drew upon my thoughts
and feelings from the three years
I attended Gaither to inspire and encourage.
In March of 1996, STAPPA/ALAPCO presented me with
a scholarship at the Hillsborough Regional Science and
Engineering Fair. STAPPA/ALAPCO is the State and
Territorial Air Pollution Program Administrators and
the Association of Local Air Pollution Control
Officials. Along with the scholarship, they
asked me to give a speech
on my research at their national conference.
I wrote a personal inferno for my AP
English class my senior year. A personal infernal is a parody of
Dante's Inferno that is written in the same structure. I have only included the
introduction and my first canto, Tour Stop I: The Crazy and Insane
Drivers.
During my senior year of high school, I took AP European
History where I wrote a short essay on
Napoleon. The essay deals with his life in the Enlightenment Period,
and how he was atypical of the other Enlightened rulers.
In my AP English course, we had to read many novels and plays, and essays
usually accompanied this literature. This essay looks at the love affair
between Hamlet and Ophelia.
This summer, I am taking Technical Writing at the University
of South Florida. We have had many assignments to complete such
as writing memos, abstracts, and business letters. The following are
most of my assignments.
